We created DGnet Synergy to solve a problem: “How can we support multiple independent applications that would otherwise be incompatible on a single device?” By virtualizing multiple systems, we can provide dedicated software environments for each application, meet specific system requirements, and provide a seamless end-user experience.
The system starts with our custom DGnet OS Linux kernel, turning a computer into a managed hypervisor. We then pass system resources and individual components to one or many virtualized machines (VM). This method also allows us to treat each VM as a non-demand service, deploying fully functional systems like a software package through our secure update service.
Peripheral devices can be shared between VM, reducing the overhead of supporting otherwise independent source devices. For example, your conference room can now support multiple room endpoints with a single camera, microphone, and display. End-users can quickly switch between conference platforms with an easy-to-use touch screen.
We minimize exposure to vulnerabilities and problems by sandboxing each application in its own software environment. Applications that require user access to the PC can be reset to a fixed state daily. Physical security is also a priority for DGnet Synergy. We only allow devices that have been previously whitelisted and can even go so far as to require authentication in the form of a physical token to allow foreign USB devices to be connected.
